Detailed Itinerary for 11 Days Best Uganda Rwanda Safari
Day 1; Arrival & Hotel Transfer
You will be welcomed by our company representative upon your arrival at Entebbe airport and transferred to the Lodge where you will unwind, and later have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2; Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
Enjoy breakfast and drive to Murchison Falls National Park. It will take you around 5 hours from Kampala about 305 km. You will enter through Kichumbanyobo gate. Paara covers a distance of about 85km from Masindi town by the shortest route. You will visit the top of the falls and then proceed to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3; Game drive and launch cruise – Murchison Falls
Early morning breakfast and then go for a game drive where you will spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, and Uganda kobs among others.
In the afternoon; you will go for a launch cruise on the park’s main tourist attraction the unique Murchison Falls as well as the River Nile with its streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, as well as large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. Dinner and overnight at your lodge as above.
Day 4; Transfer to Kibale National Park
You will have breakfast and then drive to Kibale National Park. This is a full day drive. You will have lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight stay at your pre-booked lodge.
Day 5; Chimpanzee trekking- Kibale forest
Have early morning breakfast and go for briefing and start chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for Chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.
After trekking, you will have lunch and then visit Bigodi wetland where you will experience a lot of bird life and unspoiled nature! Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at as above.
Day 6; Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You will have breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive well in time for lunch. Enjoy your lunch and unwind at your lodge or embark on a brief evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge inside the park.
Day 7; Game drive and launch cruise- Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will go for early morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector where you may spot various animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, and leopards among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and in the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise where you will spot various water animals like Hippos and crocodiles. The cruise will also enrich you with various water birds. Dinner and overnight at same lodge as above.
Day 8; Transfer to Musanze / Ruhengeri
Breakfast will be served and embark on your journey to Musanze town – also known as Ruhengeri, the base town for Volcanoes national park arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy lunch and go for a tour of the Musanze caves and return for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Tour
Wake up to an early morning breakfast and go for Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. It’s a 2 to 6 hours activity depending on the location of the gorilla family you are tracking. You will be given an hour to spend with these gentle creatures once you have located them.
Have lunch and visit Iby’iwachu cultural village to experience the ancient life of the Rwandese. Dinner and overnight at the same lodge as above.
Day 10: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Gisenyi – Lake Kivu Boat Cruise
Have breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for briefing. After your brief, you will head into the forest in search for golden monkeys taking about 2-3 hours depending on their location. Once you have located a golden monkey group, you will be given an hour to spend with the gorillas.
After your golden monkey trek, you will have lunch and drive to Gisenyi arriving Lake Kivu. Check into your resort/ hotel and set out for a boat cruise on Lake Kivu to visit the island, shores, and village. Dinner and overnight at your pre-booked hotel/resort.
Day 11; Kigali & Departure
Breakfast will be served early and you will embark on your journey to Kigali city where you will enjoy a brief city tour including a visit to Kimironko market and the genocide memorial site where you will learn about the tragic 1994 genocide and watch a video clip of the horrific times and how Rwandan people have moved on!
Have lunch and transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
