Detailed Itinerary for 13 Days Kenya and Tanzania Wildlife Safari.
Day 1: Transfer to Amboseli national park
After breakfast, check-out of the hotel; meet by your guide to transfer to Amboseli national park. It’s a 5-6 hours’ drive with en-route lunch. Amboseli National Park is famous for its scenery with a close view of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, which dominates the landscape, and open plains.
Arrive at late afternoon with more game drive as you drive to your lodge. Animals like the well-known predators and their opponents like the Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, hippo with a view of Mt Kilimanjaro may be spotted. Later Dinner and overnight at Sentrim Amboseli lodge for mid-range/ Amboseli Eco-camp for budget
Day 2: Full day game drive – Amboseli national park
Have breakfast and explore Amboseli. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Other attraction of the park includes opportunities to meet the Maasai people and also offers spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru national park
After breakfast, meet your safari driver will pick you up to start your journey to Lake Nakuru national park. You will first explore Nairobi city visiting the Elephant orphanage or the Giraffe center and the Karen Museum. Have en-route lunch as you connect to Lake Nakuru national park, which is about 4-5 hours’ drive. Upon arrival late afternoon, check-in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full day game drive
After breakfast, connect for game drive in the park. Lake Nakuru is known for its large masses of flamingo birds, other birds to be seen include; the African fish Eagle, Tawny Eagle, Green Wood Hoopoes, Cliff Chat, Great White, and Pink Backed Pelicans plus other intra- African Migrants. Its home to the famous black and white rhinos. Also, expect to see animals like the lions, leopards, hyenas, and different antelope species and explore the park’s wildlife spotting animals like the black and white rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, and zebras. Return to the lodge for dinner and Overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 5: Transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve – Community tour
Wake up early, enjoy breakfast and check-out and transfer to transfer to Maasai Mara Game Reserve the unspoiled Savannah. It’s about 4-5 hours’ drive, Maasai Mara is actually the northern portion of the Great Plains ecosystem in neighboring Tanzania bordering Serengeti national park.
Upon arrival, you will head to the Maasai village/Maasai Loita Hills for a cultural experience. On this experience you will enjoy getting a deeper insight into the Maasai culture by interacting with the local Maasai people, be entertained by local dancers, drama and Maasai warriors; buy local Maasai items such as local Maasai Shukas, beautifully made accessories such as necklaces and earrings and taste local cuisines. Proceed to check-in at your lodge with en-route game viewing, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara
Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and grab your packed lunch and meet your safari driver to head to the plains of Maasai Mara for a full day adventure in this stunning savannah vegetation of Maasai Mara as you watch many animals in large numbers such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, zebras and many more. You will enjoy your picnic lunch and proceed for a game drive till the sun goes down. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Optional activity; Hot air balloon – Wake early and be picked up by the air balloon team for your hot air balloon safari which starts in the early morning, just in time for sunrise. For about one hour you will be floating peacefully above the ground, with a bird’s eye view of the African bush below. The capacity for this activity is limited making this a very special and exclusive experience. Breakfast will be provided and thereafter connect back to the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Serengeti national park via Isabenia border
You will have a very early breakfast and checkout from the lodge to embark on your journey to Serengeti national park in Tanzania. You will have an en-route game drive on your way to Isebania border where you will be crossing the border. This day will take you to other side of Maasai Mara as you exit the park via Olololo gate in Mara west.
Upon arrival at the border the customs office will do clearance after which, meet your Tanzanian driver guide to proceed to Serengeti where you will enter the park with the game drive lasting up to 2 hours as you enjoy the plains of Serengeti. The Serengeti allows you see the big five game in plenty. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 8: Mara River Wildebeest migration experience
Have early breakfast, get parked lunch and go for a full day game drive we start from far North around the Mara river in case you came on the opposite month when the migration will start from Serengeti after missing it from Mara Kenya side now this will be you turn to enjoy the best. Spend the whole day looking for these animals like Hippos, Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, Lions, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Antelopes, Hartebeest, zebras mention but a few. Later evening, drive to Central Serengeti, dinner and dinner and overnight at your lodge/camp.
Day 9: Another day in Serengeti national park
After your delicious breakfast, meet your driver and embark on a drive to Serengeti national park with your panic lunch. The central sector is known for its masculine lions and you will also encounter a great number of other wildlife. Later afternoon, you will drive to Central Serengeti for the game drive. In this area of the park, you will have the opportunity to see big pride of lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Hyenas, Giraffes, Elephants, different Antelopes, and other wildlife. Later in the evening return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at either lodge as above
Day 10: Explore Ngorongoro Crater
After your cup of tea, have our lunch boxes and drive through the park and connect to Ngorongoro conservation area where you will descend into the crater 600m down crater. The crater is where we find one of the biggest volcanic calderas in the world; it occupies over 1 million animals with all the big five including the rare black rhino present. Other animals include Lions, leopards, cheetahs, Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, zebras and others. Later afternoon/evening, drive to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: Full day game drive in Tarangire national park
Wake up early enjoy the morning breakfast then embark on an amazing game drive in the Tarangire national park and enjoying sights of different animals with your packed lunch. Later evening, drive to Arusha. It’s about 2 hours’ drive. Upon arrival, connect to your booked hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: A day hike of Mount Kilimanjaro
After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your guide, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park – Marangu gate (1,840 m), register and commence the climb. This hiking trip to the first hut Mandara Hut (2,670m) will give you a feel of the mountain for a day and the hike through the rain forest is breath-taking. The trek soon takes you into the dense rainforest where you will be surrounded by ancient tree draped with moss, giant ferns, lichen, and other indigenous vegetation. Walking through the rainforest, you must be on a look out for the white and black colobus monkeys and some wild animals.
After a 4 hour walk, reach Mandara Hut (2,670 m) where you will have your lunch break, rest before you visit Maundi crater. From the crater enjoy views of the Kenyan interior. Thereafter, descend down back into the tropical rainforest reaching the Kilimanjaro national park gate after 2 hours as you enjoy the scenery. Upon arrival, meet your driver and transfer back to your hotel/Arusha
Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys. After lunch, hike back to park gate and drive to Arusha.
Day 13: Departure
After breakfast and depending on your return flight schedule, meet your safari guide to be dropped off for your onward flight back home from Kilimanjaro International airport.
