Day 1: Pick up in Kigali and drive to Kahuzi Biega

After finishing your early morning breakfast at your Kigali hotel or arriving at Kigali international airport with an early morning flight, you will be met by your driver guide, who will brief you briefly and drive you to Rubavu via Karongi for lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to Rubavu border post, where we will go through immigration, obtain a DRC visa, and cross over to DR Congo through Rubavu border to your booked lodge for dinner.

Day 2; Lowland Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi Biega

From breakfast, you will have your first briefing at the park headquarters, where you will register and meet your allocated ranger guides before proceeding to the park’s trekking starting point for your lowland gorilla experience. You will then go with your ranger guide, who will provide you with important facts about Kahuzi Biega National Park.

After viewing the gorillas, you will have an hour to observe them and take photographs and videos of your choice, all while under the observation of your ranger guide. You will then return to your designated hotel for beverages, lunch, and an afternoon at leisure. The lodge serves meals and provides overnight accommodations.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali

Today, after breakfast at your accommodation, you will meet with your driver guide, go over the standard briefing, and then go to Rwanda via the Bukavu border. You will then travel to Kigali for lunch and the opportunity to see the Kigali genocide memorial sites, which commemorate the legacy of the over one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to hear and see video excerpts from some of the incident’s survivors before departing for Kigali International Airport for your next destination.
