Day 1: Nairobi- Maasai Mara
Your safari driver from Explore Rwanda Tours will pick you up from your accommodation and begin the 5- to 6-hour journey to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. You’ll go across the huge plains of the East African Rift Valley, the Maasai land, and the Narok region. The Maasai are one of Africa’s remaining true pastoral nomads.
Check into your accommodation and have lunch when you arrive at Maasai Mara National Reserve. Later, go on a game drive in the afternoon, when you may view a variety of species, including antelopes, buffaloes, cheetahs, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and the elusive leopard.
After dinner, head back to your lodge or camp for the night.
Day 2: Full Day Game Viewing in Maasai Mara
We’ll be up early to see the park’s plentiful fauna, which is claimed to be the most densely populated in the region. This will be a day of endless game drives across the golden meadows and past the characteristic acacia trees that grace these plains.
Be on the watch for Africa’s Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros. The birds are also rich, and if you visit during the Great Migration season (July – October), be prepared to observe the world’s greatest animal movement.
The migratory species, primarily wildebeest and zebra, enter the park by the thousands at the Mara River, which also hosts hippos and waiting crocodiles. The potential for drama here is undeniable, as streaming herds enter these regions in search of new grasses while predators lurk.
An optional excursion to one of the nearby communities will enhance your Maasai Mara experience. You will meet the Maasai and get a firsthand look at their way of life.
Another potential activity is an early morning hot air balloon flight above the area. Take in the park below as it comes to life, with the fields lighting up and the creatures beginning a new day on the Savannah. Day 3: Maasai Mara- Nairobi
Check out of your lodge after having breakfast. You will then embark on one last game drive as you exit the park. You will have a stopover at the Maasai village outside the park for a cultural experience. Grab this opportunity to interact with the famous Maasai people and learn more about their interesting culture. You will visit their Bomas (traditional African mud hut), craft shops and also take part in their folk dances and singing performance.
Have en route lunch and later proceed with your drive back to Nairobi city, where your driver guide will drop you off at a hotel of your choice or airport for your onward flight out of Kenya!
