Detailed Itineraries for 3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari
Day 1: Pickup from Kampala/Entebbe and Drive to Murchison Falls NP- Stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Following a welcoming briefing from our safari guide, you will travel northwest towards Nakasongola, passing through picturesque scenery and tiny, lively villages.
After around 2.5 hours, we arrive at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Uganda’s only area to witness rhinos in the wild. Enjoy a 2-hour guided rhino tracking trip on foot with trained rangers. It’s an exciting and safe trip through rhino country.
Continue your drive to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving about mid-afternoon. After settling into your lodge and having lunch, we will travel to the top of the Falls. Standing just meters away from where the Nile bursts through a tiny valley before dropping 45 meters below is very breathtaking. Mist licks your skin, and rainbows dance in the sunlight.
Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Rise early with a warm cup of coffee or tea and go on a morning wildlife drive across the park area’s savannah plains. The golden hours are ideal for seeing lions, leopards, buffalo herds, giraffe towers, Jackson’s hartebeests, bushbucks, warthogs, and even a lone shoebill.
Our knowledgeable guide leads you on well-mapped paths for the best animal viewing. The sunrise casts golden hues throughout the countryside, adding to the mystical quality of your photographs.
Return to your lodge around mid-morning for a substantial meal and some rest.
In the afternoon, go on a boat safari on the Victoria Nile. Drift slowly across the water, spotting hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of bird species, including the African fish eagle and the pied kingfisher. The boat arrives at the base of the falls, where you can feel the river’s thunder and see it smash with incredible intensity.
The adventurous can walk to the top of Murchison Falls. It’s a short but steep walk that rewards you with panoramic views of the river winding through the rock.
Return to your lodging for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Return Back to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, start your return trip to Kampala or Entebbe. However, before leaving the park, take a final game drive, where you may see wildlife you missed on prior excursions.
Drive through the escarpments and towns of Masindi, stopping for lunch along the route. Arrive at Kampala or Entebbe in the late afternoon, where your three-day Murchison Falls safari will be completed.
Depending on your next destination, you will be dropped off at either your hotel or the airport.
