This 4 Days Akagera and Nyungwe Safari takes you on a unique safari experience to Rwanda which is popularly dubbed as ‘the land of a thousand hills.’ During these 4 Days Akagera and Nyungwe Safari, you will go on an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema and also a full day of wildlife viewing in Akagera national park. You will then drive to Nyungwe forest national park where you will be doing chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe or Cyamudongo forest. This trip beings and ends in Kigali City.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Akagera and Nyungwe Safari.
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Afternoon Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast from your hotel/lodge and then meet up with your driver guide. You will then transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and then embark on the late afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game animals like savannah elephants, hippopotamuses, Crocodiles, and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Dinner and overnight stay at your designated lodge.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast meal at your lodge before heading out for a full-day game drive in the park. You will have ample time to explore both the southern and northern sectors of the park for wildlife animals including the famous Big Five like the Rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, and hippos as well as other wildlife species like Sitatunga, hartebeests, antelopes, leopards, common eland, waterbucks and so many more.
Return to your lodge at the end of the day for dinner and an overnight stay the same as the previous night.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have breakfast early in the morning and embark on a full day drive to Nyungwe forest national park. You will have a stopover for lunch en-route to the park and another to stretch and take pictures on the beautiful sceneries on your way to the park. Upon your arrival in the park, drive to your lodge to check-in and later have dinner and overnight stay at your hotel/lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trek and Transfer Back to Kigali
After having breakfast at your lodge briefing point. After your briefing, you will head into the forest in search for a group of chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest can take anywhere between 4-6hours or more depending on their location. Have lunch after your trek and head back to back where you will find your driver guide waiting for you and then drive back to Kigali.
Depending on your time of arrival in Kigali, you can take a short tour of Kigali city where you can visit places like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kimironko Market, and Caplaki Craft Village if time allows. Your driver guide will drop you off at the airport in time to check in and board your flight to Kigali.
