Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Tanzania Safari Northern Circuit

Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire National Park- Stopover at Mto Wa Mbu

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha and drive about 2 hours to Tarangire National Park, which is noted for its unique terrain.

You will do a game drive in the park based on recorded animal sightings (primarily predators, lions, cheetahs, and leopards, which are more difficult to observe). Later, we’ll head to the Tarangire River picnic location to have lunch and enjoy the wonderful view of the river and wildlife. After lunch, you will go on another game drive and leave the park about 4:30 p.m., heading to your lodge for supper and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mto Wa Mbu- Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will travel from Mto Wa Mbu to Serengeti National Park, which will take 6 hours (including all breaks) and pass via the Ngorongoro Crater.  You will stop momentarily at the gate and lookout to take in the amazing vista of the crater. After that, you’ll travel to Serengeti National Park. Arrive in the late afternoon and go on a game drive in Seronera (the Serengeti’s heart) until late evening, when you will see the stunning Serengeti sunset. You will then spend the night at our Seronera camp or lodge.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park- Ngorongoro Crater

Following an early breakfast, you will embark on an early game drive to witness a variety of wildlife. In the afternoon, you will return to our campsite for lunch before embarking on an afternoon wildlife drive in the Serengeti. Once finished, you will travel to your lodge or camp (2 hours) for supper and a night at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Drive- Mto Wa Mbu

After an early breakfast, you will descend into the crater in search of the black rhino, which is the most difficult animal to detect in the gorgeous crater. Because this park is a floor crater, the majority of wildlife in the park are easily visible. After lunch, you’ll go on a game drive, mount the crater, and then travel to the lodge for supper and overnight.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park and Back to Mto Wa Mbu

After breakfast, you will visit Lake Manyara National Park, which is well-known for its high quantity of flamingos in the lake and tree-climbing lions. You will go on a game drive and see a variety of animals and birds before visiting the hippo pool to get a close look at the hippos. Expect to observe buffaloes, wildebeest, warthogs, vultures, eagles, monkeys, and other animals here. Evening travel to Arusha where you will check-in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Arusha- Materuni waterfalls and Drop-off at Arusha/Moshi

Today you will spend the day exploring the famous Mount Kilimanjaro. Materuni is the Chagga tribe’s home and a genuine tribal community located just outside of Kilimanjaro National Park.

First, we’ll go to the waterfalls, which are about a 40-minute walk away. On the route, your guide will describe the Chagga culture and village life, as well as the surrounding animals and vegetation. The vistas are incredibly beautiful, and if you’re lucky, you’ll glimpse Mount Kilimanjaro’s top. When you approach the waterfalls, you will notice that they are almost 80 meters high. The pool at the base of the waterfall is an amazing spot for swimming, so don’t forget to bring your swimsuit!

After enjoying the view, you will leisurely return to Materuni village with your guide for a typical Chagga meal. You will also get the opportunity to try the local banana beer, which should not be missed!

The next step is to have a coffee experience. Here, you will learn how coffee is grown, dried, roasted, and processed. You will also be asked to assist in the grinding of the coffee, which is customarily accompanied with Chagga songs and dances – a wonderful chance to immerse yourself in local culture.
After the trip, we will drop you off at your accommodation or airport, depending on your departure time.
