Detailed Itinerary for 9 Days Murchison Falls, Kibale and Bwindi Safari
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Murchison falls national park
Depending on your location in Kampala on the first day of your 9 days Murchison falls, Kibale and Bwindi safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Murchison falls national park. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and on the way you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking and for en-route lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey to Murchison falls national park and upon arrival you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 9 days Murchison falls, Kibale and Bwindi safari, you will meet up your driver guide to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to view animals when they are most active. During the game drive you will be able to view animals like bushbucks, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, waterbucks, Jacksons hartebeests, oribi, warthogs grazing in savannah plains with due, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas looking for a morning hunt, view different bird species among others. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will meet up with your driver guide to go for an amazing boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. During the boat cruise you will be able to enjoy great views the waterfall, take beautiful photos, view aquatic animals like hippos and Nile crocodiles, other animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes which will be drinking water along the shores, aquatic birds among others. After the boat cruise you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 3: Morning relaxation and top of the falls drive
On the third day of the 9 days Murchison falls, Kibale and Bwindi safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast and spend the rest of the day at leisure, or engage in optional activities at the lodge and later have lunch.
After lunch you will relax at the lodge and later drive to the top of the falls where you will enjoy stunning views of the waterfall, enjoy the water splashes, listen to the roars of the water, enjoy the beautiful scenery among others. After the top of the falls, you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
You will have breakfast and then drive to Kibale. En-route, you will visit the amabere ganyinamwiru stalagmites and waterfalls site in Fort Portal and the crater lakes. Have lunch and proceed to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trek and Bigodi Swamp Walk
Take early morning breakfast and go for a briefing and start chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.
After trekking you will have lunch and rest for a while. Later in the evening, you will then head out for a guided tour at Bigodi Swamp. Look out for a variety of bird species including the Yellow-rumped tinker bird, White-spotted flufftail, Black-crowned waxbill and the highly sought after Shoebill stork.
Later drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Top of the World Hike
Start your day with breakfast at your lodge. Head out for Top of the World Hike where you will commence your hike at Lake Nyabikere which is locally called ‘Lake of Frogs.’ You will see stunning views of the famous Rwenzori Mountains on a clear day. Once you get to the summit, you will be rewarded with amazing panoramic views of the lake and surrounding areas. Have lunch before finally returning back to your lodge.
Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
On the seventh day of your 9 Days Murchison Falls, Kibale and Bwindi Safari, breakfast will be served at your lodge. Check out of your lodge and meet up with your driver guide. You will then drive to Bwindi impenetrable National Park with a stopover for lunch en-route to the park.
Upon your arrival in the park, check-in at your lodge. Later have dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and Optional Batwa Cultural Tour
After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing, immediately you will be directed to enter the forest with the park rangers leading in search for the gorillas. This will take you about 2- 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla in the wild, meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour, then you will return and relax at the lodge. In the evening, if you wish to explore more, you can opt for a visit to the neighboring Batwa communities. Get a chance to learn more about their interesting cultures as you interact with the friendly locals.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe.
As all good things come to an end; today marks the last day of your safari with us! Have breakfast at your lodge and then embark on a return journey back to Kampala/Entebbe with a stopover for lunch and also visit the equator monuments at Kayabwe if time allows. Your driver will drop you off at a hotel of your choice in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.
