Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation and Hiking Safari.
Day 1: Pickup and Drive to Kibale Chimpanzee Habituation Safari
Pickup from your hotel early in the morning by our company representative from Explore Rwanda Tours. You will then embark on about a 5-hour drive to Kibale National Park with a stopover visit at the equator monuments in Kayabwe and lunch en route to the park. Upon your arrival in Kibale, you will check into your lodge and rest. If you wish to explore, you can pay an optional visit to Bigodi Swamp for a birding excursion or a guided nature walk in the park. Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest National Park.
Breakfast will be served early in the morning at your lodge. You will then drive to the park’s briefing point where you will be briefed and put in a group of fellow trekkers. You will then embark into the forest in search of a chimpanzee group, accompanied by a team of researchers, primate doctors, and park rangers.
Once you have located a group, you will be given four hours to spend with them as you watch and study them. Have your packed lunch and then head back to base where you will find your driver waiting for you.
Retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Top of the World Hike
Have your breakfast and meet up with your driver guide. Today you will be hiking to the famous Top of the World spot in Kibale. If you’re near Kibale National Park, put on your hiking boots and embark on a thrilling nature trip to the “top of the world!” On this relatively easy climb to the Top-of-the-World viewpoint, Kibale’s highest point, you’ll pass through towns, luscious orchards, banana, tea, and coffee plantations, as well as Mahoma Falls. Enjoy beautiful views of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges, Kibale forest, and some parts of Queen Elizabeth National Park at a distance.
After your hike, you will head back to base and meet your driver guide then proceed for lunch. Spend the rest of your evening relaxing at leisure.
Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer Back to Entebbe and Departure
You will enjoy breakfast and transfer back to Entebbe with a stopover for lunch en route. Proceed to Entebbe arriving in late afternoon. You will be dropped off at the hotel in either Entebbe as you advise or at Entebbe airport for your onward flight back home.
