Detailed itinerary for 5 Days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife and Primates Safari!
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
On the first day of this 5 days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife and Primates Safari, you will be met by your safari guide from Explore Rwanda Tours and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On the way, you will have a stopover at the equator monuments at Kayabwe for pictures and lunch. Upon arrival in the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise at Kazinga channel
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife and Primates Safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive or lion tracking experience in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will have great views of buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and Uganda kobs among others grazing in open savannah plains with due, view predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas looking for a morning hunt, view different bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel where you will be able to view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, elephants, warthogs, and buffaloes drinking water along the shores, view water birds like bee-eaters, kingfishers, fish eagles, hornbills, cormorants among others and see fishermen preparing their fishing gears for night fishing. After the boat ride you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Full Day Game Drive
Have your breakfast in the morning and head out for a full-day game drive in the park. Get a chance to search for any wildlife animals that you might not have seen during the previous game drive. Look out for lions, leopards, elephants, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, topi and so many more. You will have a break for lunch at your lodge and rest for a while before heading back out for another game drive.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kalinzu Forest
Breakfast will be served early by the lodge. You will then drive to Kalinzu forest for chimpanzee trekking. Kalinzu forest neighboring Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to about 320 chimpanzees which makes it the second-best chimpanzee trekking destination in Uganda after Kibale Forest National Park. Chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu forest can take about 3-4 hours depending on their location. Once you have located a chimpanzee family, you will be given an hour to spend with them. Have your packed lunch and then proceed back to your lodge and relax for the rest of the evening. Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 5: Explore Crater Lakes and Transfer Back to Entebbe
On the last day of your 5 Days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife and Primates safari, you will have breakfast and then check out of your lodge. You will be exploring one of the many crater lakes found in Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are over 25 crater lakes in the park and you can explore them on foot. Later proceed with your drive back to Entebbe via Kampala with a stopover for lunch en route.
Upon your arrival in Entebbe, your driver guide will drop you off at a hotel of your choice or Entebbe International Airport in case you have an evening flight to catch.
