7 Days Congo Adventure Safari

this 7 days congo asaventure safari entails gorilla trekking in virunga national park famous for mountain gorillas, later trasfering and hike mount Nyiragongo mountain one of the few active volcanoes. After the hike descend and transfer to Kahuzi biega to track the eastern lowland gorillas and later a relaxation visit to tchegera island.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali and transfer to Goma

You will be received by our guide at the airport and then he will transfer you to Goma in DRC. You will go through Gisenyi where you will have your lunch. You have a chance to interact with locals since the drive is short and will have time to make stop overs. The beautiful scenery of Lake Kivu is one of the highlights of the day.

Dinner and overnight at Mikeno lodge/Bukima tented camp. FB

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Community walk

On this day, you will have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing before you go out looking for these special gorillas. This activity will take about 2 hours and then u will spend one hour with the gorillas. You will head back to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon after your lunch, you will be taken out to the nearby communities and have an opportunity to interact with the locals and see how the gorilla tourism is impacting on them.

Day 3: Nyiragongo Hike

Today we have an early breakfast and had for a briefing before we set off for our Nyiragongo hike. The hike starts at 10am and it will take about 6 hours to reach the summit depending on the levels of energy of the group. Dinner and overnight in tented camps at the summit. FB

Day 4: Nyiragongo & transfer to Kahuzi Biega national park

Today we descent to the bottom of the mountain and thereafter transfer to the home of the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park. You should look forward to this as there is a lot of other wildlife to look forward to. Dinner and overnight at Orchid safari lodge. FB

Day 5: Eastern lowland gorilla trekking and transfer to Tchegera

Like the mountain gorillas, we shall have early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing. The same gorilla tracking rules apply here. After this trek we shall have our lunch packed lunch and then head to Tchegera.

Day 6: Explore Tchegera

The tented camp offers spectacular views of the lake and four volcanoes. On clear nights, Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes add to the drama by turning the night sky red with their glowing lava. There is also an abundance of birdlife on the island. You can choose to relax on the beach or explore other parts of the island in a sea kayak or by paddleboard. Stay at tchegera Island Camp. FB

Day 7: Departure

The guide will drive you back to Kigali to catch you flight back home. Of course there are lots of activities you can do on your way home depending on the time of your flight.
