Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Kenya and Tanzania Combined Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Your Safari begins in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a short rest after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you can visit the Giraffe Centre or enjoy a relaxed dinner while preparing for the adventure ahead. Nairobi offers a gentle introduction to East Africa, blending urban life with glimpses of wildlife just outside the city.
Dinner and overnight stay in Nairobi.
Day 2: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, depart by road or a short flight to Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations. The drive takes you through the Great Rift Valley, offering scenic viewpoints along the way.
Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch, followed by your first afternoon game drive. The Maasai Mara is known for its abundance of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, and cheetahs. If traveling during the migration season, which is from July to October, you may witness wildebeest crossing the Mara River.
Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara
Spend the entire day exploring the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Early mornings are ideal for spotting predators in action, while afternoons often reveal herds grazing across the plains. You may opt for a full-day game drive with a packed picnic lunch to maximize wildlife viewing. Expect to see the “Big Five” if you’re lucky, along with giraffes, zebras, hyenas, and various antelope species.
An optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise offers a breathtaking aerial view of the savannah, followed by a bush breakfast. Later, have dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge or camp.
Day 4: Maasai Mara to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart the Maasai Mara and journey toward the Kenya-Tanzania border at Isebania. After clearing immigration formalities, continue into Tanzania and enter Serengeti National Park.
Enjoy a game drive en route to your camp or lodge. The Serengeti National Park is vast and less crowded in the low seasons, offering a more remote safari experience. Its endless plains are home to large herds of wildebeest, lions, leopards, and elephants.
Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
Dedicate the day to exploring the Serengeti National Park. This park is famous for its expansive landscapes and incredible wildlife density. Morning and afternoon game drives provide opportunities to see predators such as lions and cheetahs, as well as large herds of herbivores. Birdlife is also abundant, making it a great destination for bird enthusiasts. Depending on the season, you may track the Great Migration herds as they move across the plains in search of fresh grazing.
Drive back to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, depart Serengeti National Park and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you can visit Olduvai Gorge, an important archaeological site known as the ‘Cradle of Mankind.’
Arrive at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most unique safari destinations in the world. The crater is a natural enclosure that supports a dense population of wildlife. Spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying views from the crater rim.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Safari and Departure
Start early with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. The crater floor is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife, including black rhinos, lions, elephants, and flamingos around the soda lake. Because of its enclosed nature, wildlife viewing is excellent year-round, making it one of the highlights of your safari.
After your game drive, ascend from the crater and transfer to Arusha for lunch. Depending on your travel plans, you will be dropped off at the airport for your onward flight.
End of tour!
