Detailed itinerary 9 Days Uganda Honeymoon Safari
Day 1: Pick-up in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
Pickup from your hotel in Kigali and head out for a half day tour of Kigali city before transferring to Bwindi National Park in Uganda. The park is located in the south-western part of the Uganda close to Rwanda border, it’s about 5-6 hours’ drive with en route lunch. On arrival to the park, you will proceed and check in your lodge for relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge in Bwindi forest.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking experience in Buhoma sector and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Have breakfast and transfer you to park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by a local guide. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences. You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at very close range. You will observe adults feeding and groaning among themselves. After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your guide and rangers will lead you back to the starting point where your driver.
Thereafter, embark to transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is about 4 to 5 hours’ journey. Depending on the time, you may enter Ishasha sector for a game drive in search of the trip climbing lions and other animals. Thereafter, drive to your lodge for relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge inside the park.
Day 3: Lion tracking/Game Drive in Kasenyi area and Boat cruise on Kazinga channel
Go for an early morning game drive and lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth national park where you will spot a lot of wildlife including African elephants, Lions, buffalos, antelopes, impala, among others and a lot of birds and a good day the leopards. Return to the lodge for breakfast, relax a bit and enjoy your lunch.
Connect for a boat cruise along Kazinga channel where you will get an opportunity to see a number of bird species, elephants and buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles. The Kazinga channel is known to have the highest concentration of hippos. Retreat from the boat trip in the evening and check in your lodge for relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning game drive – transfer to Kibale National Park – Bigodi Swamp
After breakfast, check-out of the lodge, connect for yet another morning game drive in Kasenyi area for chances to spot any missed animals. Thereafter, embark on your journey to Kibale National Park. Upon arrival at the lodge, have lunch before you connect for the Bigodi swamp walk – one of the richest swamps with birds and primates like Baboons, red tailed monkey, Black and white monkey among others. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking – Transfer to Hoima (Lake Albert)
Wake up early and drive to Kibale Forest to the briefing point before you head in the forest in search of the exuberant chimpanzee’s groups in the Kibale forest. Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor, is a thrilling experience. Though they can be difficult to spot, you will be in no doubt of their presence as the forest is alive with their noisy calls. Spend an hour in their presence.
After trekking and lunch, embark on your 5-6 hours’ drive to Hoima. Upon arrival, connect to your booked lodge at Lake Albert. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Murchison falls national park – visit top of the falls and evening game drive
After breakfast, check-out of the lodge and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. It’s about 5-6 hours’ drive arriving at good time for lunch at the lodge upon check-in. Later afternoon, connect to the top of the Murchison falls, explore the falls before you go for a thrilling evening game drive. Dinner and overnight stay inside the park.
Day 7: Morning Game drive and launch cruise
After early morning breakfast, go for a morning game drive where you may spot various animal species like lions, leopards, hyena, elephants, giraffes, Uganda kobs among others. Return and have lunch.
Later afternoon, you set off for a launch cruise at the bottom of the Murchison Falls along River Nile, enjoy streaming views of hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, as well as large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. Connect for yet another game viewing. Dinner and overnight at lodge as the above.
Day 8: Transfer Ziwa rhino sanctuary – Rhino tracking
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will go for a morning game drive as early as 6 am. The activity takes about 3-5 hours depending on animals available, and you will find animals including elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Hartebeest, Uganda Kobs, Oribis and waterbucks. On a good day you will encounter the leopards.
After the game drive, connect to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place where you find the rhinos in Uganda. It’s about 3 hours’ drive. Upon arrival at the sanctuary, connect to your booked lodge, have lunch and wait for do your rhino trekking experience. Meet your ranger guides for briefing then drive to the starting point where you will start your trekking in search of the rhinos. You will be able to spot different rhinos, coming up close to them. Spend time in their presence before you connect to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Entebbe airport – Departure
After breakfast. Later meet with the guide/driver for your drive to Entebbe. This journey takes 3-4 hours en-routes for lunch. Upon arrival in Entebbe, the driver will drop you off at 2-3 pm to check-in for your onward flight back home.
