Mikeno lodge is one of the luxurious lodges in Virunga national park. It balances adventure and the serenity in this wild. It is good for primates and Bird watching safaris.

This lodge gives good views of the Nyiragongo Volcano which is the most active volcano in Africa and the rift valley. It located about 2 hours from the border town of Goma.

It has about 12 rooms with unique setting and all surrounded by the forested vegetation and Lava stones.

This lodge area is home to almost 1190 species of birds and primates like baboons, chimpanzees and monkeys.

There is an excellent restaurant that offers indoor or outdoor dining, with a selection of fresh cuisine – breakfast is included but additional meals are not.

This lodge is a great spot to start most of the safari activities to Lake Kivu and Virunga national park in the DRC. Even those planning to hike Nyiragongo can still stay here.  You will also have beautiful views of this most active volcano from here. The area is also distinctive for the mountain gorillas and there is a local gorilla orphanage that you can visit too. Treks to glimpse gorillas in the wild are also frequent, and unsurprisingly very popular with guests.
