Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park

Your journey begins in Kigali, where you will set off early for a scenic drive through Rwanda’s iconic ‘Land of a Thousand Hills.’ As you drive from Kigali to Nyungwe park, except rolling green landscapes, vibrant rural life, and plenty of photo stops along the way. To break your long drive and enrich your experience, you will stopover for a visit to Nyanza King’s Palace and the Ethnographic Museum in Huye, where you will learn more about Rwanda’s rich and unique cultural heritage.

Later, proceed to your lodge in Nyungwe Park.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon Canopy Walk

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering Nyungwe Forest National Park in search of chimpanzees. Tracking chimpanzees is both exciting and physically engaging. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours, depending on their location, but the reward is unforgettable. During your trek, you will encounter other primates, including Black and White Colobus monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys, as well as colorful birds.

Have your lunch, and later in the day, you will head out for the famous canopy walk at Nyungwe Canopy Walkway. Suspended high above the forest floor, this walkway offers stunning panoramic views of the rainforest canopy. It’s a thrilling yet safe experience that gives you a unique perspective of Nyungwe.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tea Tour and Drive Back to Kigali

After breakfast, take time to explore one of the region’s signature tea industries. You will be visiting Gisakura Tea Estate for an immersive experience. You will walk through lush tea fields, learn how tea is grown, harvested, and processed. You will also interact with local farmers and enjoy a fresh cup of Rwandan tea, accompanied by scenic views, which makes your experience a relaxing and culturally enriching way to wrap up your trip.

After the tea experience, begin your drive back to Kigali. You will arrive in the late afternoon, marking the end of your 3 days Nyungwe primates tour.
