Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Lake Mburo Safari and Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Adventure

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala and transported to Lake Mburo National Park.

This park’s flora is an acacia forest, which distinguishes it from most other East African parks, and its wildlife is equally unique. It is the greatest spot in the country to observe the massive eland antelope, and there are around 68 different kinds of animals, including zebras, impalas, buffalo, leopards, hyenas, and jackals.

The park contains five lakes, which are home to hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds, while the papyrus swamps provide habitat for the Sitatunga antelope and the red, black, and yellow papyrus Gonolek. This little park is less popular with tourists; thus, it is considerably calmer than some of the more famous East African parks.

After your game drive, return to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This morning, get up early and head towards the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, known for its incredible biodiversity, is home to several endangered species, including about half of the world’s surviving mountain gorillas. The afternoon is free to explore some of the local sites. The optional village tour takes you to Mikozi Village, where you may explore the Ugandan countryside, visit local markets, chat with a traditional Ugandan healer, and relax at the local bar before returning to your Bwindi lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

This morning, head into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to witness the mountain gorillas.
Tracking gorillas in the deep forest may be rainy, muddy, and unpleasant, with heights reaching over 2000 meters above sea level. The terrain is not easy, and it may be tough and steamy at times, but the sheer exhilaration of encountering a habituated group of gorillas, led by a huge male silverback, more than compensates for any difficulties.
You can frequently go up near the mountain gorillas, which are calm and friendly. When a trekking party comes across one of the gorilla families, the visit with the gorillas will last an hour.
After that, relax at your lodge and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Day 4: Transfer Back to Kampala

Today is a long day of journey back to Kampala, with stops along the route for photographs near the equator and a picnic lunch. Your tour will come to an end when you arrive at your hotel about 5 p.m. If you need more accommodations, simply contact your booking agent ahead of time.
