Detailed Itinerary for 8 Days Uganda Wildlife, Chimps and Gorilla Trekking Safari
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Following your arrival, a guide from our Rwanda travel company will meet you at Entebbe airport together with your driver / guide, welcome you and embark on your journey to Murchison falls national park. En-route, you may go for a visit to Ziwa rhino sanctuary and have lunch in Masindi town. Enter the park and visit the top of the falls where you will come up-close with the world’s most powerful waterfalls ‘Murchison Falls.’ After which you will proceed to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at your preferred lodge.
Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and then go for a game drive where you will spot various wildlife including elephants, giraffes, lions, Uganda Kobs among others. In the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise on the park’s main tourist attraction – the unique Murchison Falls as well as the River Nile with its streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, and large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale national park
Breakfast will be served early and embark on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park with lunch en-route in Hoima or Kagadi. This is a full day drive, with an optional en-route visit to Amabere Ganyinamwiru stalagmites site in Fort Portal including the waterfall and caves, as well as a visit to the crater lakes giving you an impressive view of the Rwenzori foothills. you will arrive at your lodge in Kibale in the evening and proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your designated lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Wake up to an early breakfast and report to the park headquarters for briefing followed by Chimpanzee tracking. Enter the forest in search of the exuberant chimpanzee groups in the Kibale forest. Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor, is a thrilling experience.
Though they can be difficult to spot, you will be in no doubt of their presence as the forest is alive with their noisy calls. After tracking, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth national park in the western part of Uganda, arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Game Drive & Launch Cruise – Queen Elizabeth
Wake up to an early breakfast and go for an early morning game drive in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth national park where you will spot a lot of wildlife including African elephants, buffalos, antelopes, impala, among others and a lot of birds. Drive to the Mweya peninsular where you will have lunch. In the afternoon, go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel inside Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will come up close with hippos, crocodiles among other aquatic life and an array of birds on the bay! Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at as above.
Day 6: Full Day Game Drive
On the sixth day of your 10 Days Uganda wildlife, chimps and gorilla trekking Safari, have breakfast early in the morning at your lodge. You will then meet up with your driver guide and head out to the park for a full day game drive in Ishasha sector where you will have a chance to search for a variety of wildlife animals such as the Uganda Kobs, buffaloes, elephants, zebra and the highly sought after tree climbing lions. Lunch will be served at your lodge or carry your packed lunch in the morning before setting off from your lodge.
Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Enjoy breakfast and embark on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park in southwestern Uganda, driving through the Ishasha sector, south of Queen Elizabeth national park where you could be lucky to see the tree climbing lions. Proceed to Bwindi with lunch en-route in Kabale town arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing by the ranger guides before embarking on your gorilla trek. Head into the forest and trek until you find the gorillas. Uganda gorilla trekking can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After finding the gorillas in Bwindi, you will be allowed only 1 hour and then return. Your driver / guide will drive you back to the lodge to relax and spend another night at as above.
Day 9: Guided Nature Walk
On the ninth day of your 10 Days Uganda wildlife, chimps and gorilla trek safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast meal at your lodge. Meet up with your driver guide and then drive to the park’s briefing point where you will be briefed by the head ranger at the park. After your briefing, you will head into the forest on a guided nature walk or hiking safari where you will be exploring on of the several hiking trails in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a chance to see a variety of bird species and some wildlife like forest elephants, duikers, bush pigs, and other spectacular attractions in the park such as rivers and waterfalls. After your hike, head back to your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 10: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe and Departure.
After having breakfast at your lodge, you will check out of your lodge and meet up with your driver guide. You will then embark on a return journey to Kampala/Entebbe with a stopover for lunch in Mbarara town. Upon your arrival in Kampala/Entebbe, you will be dropped off at a location as you will advise.
