Day 1: Pickup from Kampala/Entebbe and Transfer to Kibale National Park- Birding in Bigodi Swamp
On the first day of the 2 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari, our driving guide will pick you up from the lodge after breakfast, brief you on the safari, and then begin the travel to Kibale National Park, which takes around 5 to 6 hours. You will pass through other towns along the way, including Mityana, Mubende, and Kyenjojo, and experience spectacular views of the countryside, gorgeous vistas, tea and banana plantations, as well as an en-route lunch in Fort Portal.
After lunch, you’ll head to Kibale National Park for a wonderful wildlife trek via Bigodi Swamp. During the swamp walk, you will be led by a local guide who will help you spot primates such as grey cheeked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, l’Hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, bush pigs, bushbucks, Sitatunga, and various bird species such as the great blue turaco, African paradise flycatcher, Ross’s turaco, white browed Coucal, black and white casqued hornbill, among others. Following the swamp tour, you will drive to your accommodation for dinner and stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe
On the last day of your 2 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari, after an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transport you to the Kanyachu Visitor Center for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. Following the short briefing, you will be divided into six groups, with each group assigned a chimpanzee family to walk and a park guide who is knowledgeable about chimpanzee families. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park takes between 30 minutes and 4 hours, depending on where the chimps are located, because they prefer to wander from one site to another in quest of food.
While trekking, you will be able to see a variety of wildlife species in the forest, including birds, primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, and red-tailed monkeys, as well as many plant and tree species.
Once the chimps are located, you will be able to spend an hour with them in their natural habitat, where you will be able to observe them feed, fight, play, breastfeed, mate, relax, learn about their habits, snap photographs, and capture the magnificent moments. After the chimpanzee hike, you will meet your driving guide and return to your accommodation for lunch.
From lunch, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for the travel to Kampala, where you will arrive in the early evening. Upon arrival, you will be driven off to Entebbe International Airport for your departing flight or at any other convenient location.
