4 Days Nyiragongo hike & Gorillas

Want a 4 Days Nyiragongo hike & Gorillas and gorilla safari , In the four days, we explore the most active volcano in Africa and go up to its summit where we shall see the largest Lava Lake in the world. In this same expedition, we shall come close with the endangered mountain gorillas that are limited to this place, Uganda and Rwanda. You are going to explore this remote country but the experience is five stars.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to the Mikeno Lodge at Rumangabo

Our guide will meet you at the airport and then transfer you to the lodge. The drive time is about 4 hours to Virunga national park minus the time you spend at the border. You will have several stop overs depending on your interests like the genocide memorials and other museums. The journeys to Virunga will take you through magnificent scenery and landscape, the natural setting and welcoming people. Stay at Mikeno Lodge or Bukima Tented Camp. FB

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park

After breakfast, your guide will take you to the park headquarters for briefing and here you will be divided into groups and you will head off for this much waited adventure. The trek will take you about 2 hours and then you will spend another hour with the gorillas.

You will head back to the lodge for lunch and after lunch you will be taken for a community walk were you will have a chance to interact with the local and learn more about the Congolese culture. After, you can then return back to your lodge for the late meal and leisure. FB

Day 3: Hike the Nyiragongo Volcano

Early morning breakfast today and we shall head to Kibati station where the hike to Nyiragongo begins. Here you will be brief and you will set off at around 10am. The hike to the summit usually takes about 6 hours depending on your energy levels. The hike is a bit tiring and hot at times since this is a volcanic mountain. At the summit you will enjoy good scenery of the lava lake and relax at the top of this volcano, the bird count here is rewarding. You will spend the night in the tents on the edge of the huge crater.

Day 4: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano and transfer to Kigali

Today you will descent to the bottom of the mountain after your breakfast, this is usually faster than the hike and when you get to the Kibati station, and your guide will be waiting for you for a transfer back to Kigali and then your flight home.
