Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Rwanda and Uganda Gorilla Safari
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Ruhengeri
You will be met by our guide who will pick you up from your hotel- Kigali transfer to Kigali city for a short city tour where you will visit the genocide memorial site and Kimironko market. Later, you will transfer to Ruhengeri town with lunch enroute. Arrive at your lodge in time to check-in and have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes NP and Afternoon visit to Ibyi’wacu Village Tour
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the RDB officials, set off for the gorilla trekking. This experience of gorilla trekking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search of the Gorillas.
You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures whose company you will cherish for 1 hour. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. In the afternoon you will head out for a cultural tour to Ibyi’wacu village for a cultural experience with a resident local guide. Visit the King’s palace and learn more about the Rwandan culture through dance and singing performances from the local intore dance troupe. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Approximately 2-3 hours’ drive)-Optional Batwa Cultural Tour.
Have breakfast early in the morning from your lodge/hotel and meet up with your driver guide. You will then embark on a 2-3 hours’ drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park via the Cyanika border between Uganda and Rwanda. You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. If you wish, you can do an optional Batwa cultural tour where you will get a chance to interact with the local Batwa people. Learn more about their interesting cultural heritage and be entertained to traditional dance and singing performances from the local dance troupe.
Later have dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla Trek in Bwindi and Transfer Back to Kigali. (Approximately 5 hour’s drive)
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. After briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking tour accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After the trek, you will enjoy your lunch packs and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali.
