Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Tanzania Cultural Safari

Day 1: Arusha and Transfer to Materuni Village-Coffee Tour

Start your day with pickup from your hotel in Moshi. A visit of Materuni Village and Waterfalls is an excellent way to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The trek to Materuni Waterfall provides an insight into the nature of Tanzania. It is around 30 minutes drive from Moshi town.
The journey begins with a hike to the Materuni waterfall. It provides an opportunity to see the growth of native fruits such as avocados, mangos, lemons, and bananas, as well as learn about local history, traditions, village economics, agriculture, and cultural life. When you reach the waterfall, you may cool yourself in the natural pool, so swimsuits will come in useful!

Your 4 days Tanzania cultural safari will continue with a visit to the local community nestled among the coffee farms. The locals will show you coffee growing and accompany you through the entire coffee preparation process, from bean to cup. Sing and dance with the Chagga people while they grind, roast, and cook the beans. Once the coffee is ready, the locals will serve lunch.

Late evening transportation to Moshi for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 2: Visit Olpopongi Maasai Village

Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village & Museum is Tanzania’s first authentic Maasai Bomas and Museum that offers overnight accommodations. Olpopongi offers a unique Maasai and wildlife experience in the West Kilimanjaro Maasai land, just 74 kilometers from Moshi. While at the community, you will experience true Maasai life and culture. The proceeds from your trip help local Maasai households with water, food, jobs, personal income, medical treatments, and education.

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning and driven to the Olpopongi Maasai Village. It is around an hour and a half drive from Moshi town. While at the settlement, you will be given a tour of the village and museum to learn more about Maasai culture and traditions. Chemka oasis is a one-of-a-kind phenomenon: it is the only place in Tanzania and most likely in all of East Africa where groundwater interacts with geothermal sources, forming a number of small lakes with warm, never-stagnating water of comparable purity to the best Dominican or Maldivian resorts.

Later, drive back to Moshi for drop off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
