6 Days Nyiragongo & Gorillas Special Safari

This 6 days nyiragongo and gorilla special safari starts and ends in Kigali. the tours is a rich one as it constitutes of hiking mount nyiragongo the of the worlds few active volcanoes and later proceeding yet another thrilling gorilla trekking experience in virunga national park

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali and transfer to Goma

Our guide will receive you at the airport and will transfer you to Goma in the DRC through Gisenyi in Rwanda where you will most probably have your lunch. You will have an opportunity to go onto an afternoon boat cruise on Lake kivu and also interact with the locals. Dinner and overnight at Mikeno lodge/Bukima tented camp. FB

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Community walk

Today you will come close to the endangered mountain gorillas that are limited to this area, Uganda and Rwanda. You will meet up a ranger guide at the park headquarters for your briefing. The trek will take about two hours and you will also spend one hour with the gorillas. After this you head back to the lodge for your lunch.

After your lunch, you have a wide range of activities you can do but most of them are community based and are centered at seeing how gorilla tourism have impacted on the communities.

Day 3: Nyiragongo Hike

The fantasy of seeing the largest lava lake in the world is over because on this day, you will meet this lake as you reach the summit of Mountain Nyiragongo. The hike is about 6 hours depending on your energy levels and starts at around 10am.Dinner and overnight in tented camps at the summit. FB

Day 4: Nyiragongo & transfer to Kahuzi Biega national park

After a magnificent day yesterday, we head off to another adventure. Today you will descent from the summit of Mountain Nyiragongo and transfer to Kahuzi Biega national park home to the low land gorillas. Here you will meet a lot more wildlife and birds. Dinner and overnight at Orchid safari lodge. FB

Day 5: Eastern lowland gorilla trekking

Just like the procedure for trekking mountain gorillas, you will head to the park headquarters in the morning for briefing and head off to trek. Today you will carry your lunch and will not go back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will meet and interact will community members and learn more about culture and how these people benefit from gorilla tourism.

DRC is a big country and full of culture so be sure to see a lot in the community walks.

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast we travel back to Kigali to catch our flight back home.
