This 8 Days Nyiragongo Hike, Rwanda Gorillas and Wildlife Safari is the perfect combination for a Congo and Rwanda combined safari. You will have a chance to hike the famous Nyiragongo volcano and then transfer to Rwanda where you will be tracking mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in Volcanoes national park. Day 1: Pickup from Kigali & Transfer to Goma
Day 2: Nyiragongo Hiking
Day 3: Descend Nyiragongo & transfer to Musanze

Detailed Itinerary for 8 Days Nyiragongo hike, Rwanda Gorillas and Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali & Transfer to Goma
Your guide will pick you up from the airport or any other agreed place of pick up in Kigali and depending on time, go for a short tour of Kigali city that includes a visit to Kimironko market and the genocide memorial. Have lunch and cross to Goma after Congo boarder where you will check in at the tourism boarder at the Grand Barrier to get a volcano permit thereafter transfer to your hotel where you will relax for the evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Goma.
Day 2: Nyiragongo Hiking
You will depart your hotel in Goma early morning to report to Bukima and start your Nyiragongo hike with overnight at the summit where you will enjoy exciting views of the lava lake.
Day 3: Descend Nyiragongo & transfer to Musanze
You will descend Nyiragongo back to Bukima by 11am and depart Congo transferring to Musanze in Rwanda where you will arrive in time to check-in at your lodge and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will head out to visit Ibyi’wacu Village for a cultural tour. Get a chance to dress in traditional Rwandan attire, visit the former King’s Palace, interact with the friendly locals as you learn more about Rwanda’s interesting history and culture.
Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Wake up at first light, take a hot cup of coffee to warm you up and get in the moods of possibly the most exciting wildlife expedition activity; gorilla trekking. The safari guide will escort you to park tourism office to check your gorilla trekking preparedness, clear all formalities and the ranger guides will then lead you into the thick forests. Gorilla trekking is far more than meeting with the gorillas as you have nature all around you to interact with which the ranger guides will gladly interpret for you.
Using all their forests and gorilla trek experiences, they will locate the feeding areas of the gorilla family you are trekking and you have approximately an hour to take pictures, learn basic information about them and admire them. You will then descend the steep volcanic mountains to your trail head and reunite with your guide. You will get back to hotel for lunch, relaxing, sharing gorilla trek and Rwanda safari experiences with friends and family online.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking
Wake up at first light, take a hot cup of coffee to warm you up and get in the moods of possibly the most exciting wildlife expedition activity; golden monkey trekking The safari guide will escort you to park tourism office to check your golden monkey trekking preparedness, clear all formalities and the ranger guides will then lead you into the thick forests. Day 7: Morning Game Drive and afternoon Boat Cruise
Rise up early in the morning have breakfast and go for a morning game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill especially the big cats like the leopard, lions and many other carnivores.
You will get to watch a number of herbivores like the rhinos grazing within the plains, elephants, gazelle, oribi and many other rewarding game animals. After the morning game drives, you will head back to your hotel for refreshments and lunch.
Later in the afternoon head out for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 8: Morning Game Drive & Transfer Back to Kigali for Departure.
Wake up to a good breakfast in the misty volcanoes forest and embark on a morning game drive as you exit the park via the northern gate. Enjoy view a variety of wildlife animals and look out for any wildlife that you might have might sighting during your previous game drives. You will then reconnect with your driver guide and drive back to Kigali with drop off at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight.
